Never before have expectations been so high about what human beings can achieve with their lifespan. We're told, from many sources, that anyone can achieve anything. We are now in a system where anyone can rise to any position they please. And it's a beautiful idea.
We are all basically equal, so there is a certain equality attitude that goes along with that.
Hierarchies are not well defined.

It's quite taboo to bring up the subject of envy, but if there's one feeling that rules contemporary culture, it's envy. It also has a connection to the equality spirit.The closer two people are, whether in age, background, or the identification process, the greater the risk of envy. The issue with contemporary civilization is that it transforms the world into a classroom. Everyone is the same and wearing jeans. However, they are not. Thus, there is a spirit of equality as well as profound inequality, which can result in a very stressful circumstances
