मूझे उसी मिट्टी मे
दफनाते आये बार-बार
जिसकी रक्षा करती आयी
मैं कभी दुर्गा बनकर तो
कभी झांसी की रानी बन
ऐसा कौन सा जघन्य अपराध
मै करती आयी आदिकाल से
जो पंख आने से पहले ही
कतरे जाते बेरहमी के साथ
क्यो पढा़या जाता मर्यादाओ
वाला पाठ हमे ही बार-बार
जबकि हवस के पुजारियो ने
बरबाद किया हमे बार-बार
मर्यादायें हमने नही हैवानो ने
तोडी़ है एक नही हर बार
हमे तो बस नसीहते देकर
चुप कराया गया है बार-बार
मुझे सी मिट्टी मे............

I have a closet full of once-worn gowns
And a locker full of single-pair shoes. 
An unlikely optimist, I leave my calling cards--
Sometimes a left shoe, sometimes a right--
At parties, I turn up at work
In mismatched sandals, but hey, 
They say, all's fair in love and war.
But the price of battle is two pence
Too much and now I'm out of space, money and patience. 

I have a closet full of once-worn gowns
And a locker full of single-pair shoes.
I know I need to Marie Kondo that shit
For there is neither spark nor joy here anymore. 
I know, I know all this and more. 
I swore to let go and accept that
Amphibians cannot morph into suitable boys. 
But first, can I please have a moment of silence
For the dear-departed charms of long-lost princes?
Can I please give them a hug and a little kiss
Before I throw the frogs out?

Sisters  
Both of us entangled, messy
Even as we appear sorted to the world. 
Both a bit scary and a bit scared
Blowing in the wind for all to see.

like you
in commonplace knots
nothing to write about

are birthed by

through ordinary canals
into ordinary waiting hands

your inordinate blood
reeks
of invisible ignominy
your hands cannot come together
cannot confer in convention

you are unworthy of ordinary poems
