समझौते की आड़ में
सुंदर लग्न मंडप सज कर आया था
ढ़ेरों दहेज, अमीर घर को बेटी भेज
बाप धन्य हो दहलीज से लौट आया था।
उसका प्यार कम दौलत खुशियां देता
और सेहरे में पैसा ग़मों को साथ लाया था
परिवार पर बोझ थी, शायद इसलिए
जीते जी मौत को गले लगाया था।
ग़मगीन आंखें और होंठों की हंसी ने
कुछ यूं रिश्ता निभाया था
बाप ने फर्ज़ और बेटी ने
बेटी होने का कर्ज़ चुकाया था।

Every second she missed him,
