I never had to actively pursue you
like I do with my walnuts,
cracking their shells,
between the hinges of door.

I had to patiently wait for you
like I do for the pistachio.
You know, taking off its shell
though easy, is still tricky.
You'd never know
when you break
the delicate,
or find
too much or too little
of the salt.
