Pillows

Yesterday night, I was talking to Maa. We were waiting for Dad to come home. Dad has a bone growth in his ankles which aches a lot. He wears chappals/shoes with cushinoned soles. Funnily enough, he misplaces them all over the house. Whenever he is home, he hunts them.

He fights with Maa over them. Maa walks fast, ending up pushing his chappals under the bed. Dad hunts them, tracks them down. Then he says, "Urmila, why can't you see my chappals?" "Sorry, you know how I walk."

Yesterday, things were entirely different. "Do you remember where you kept your chappals and went?" Silence "I think you should wear pillows instead of chappals. Just imagine, Kumarpal, how will he look wearing pillows?" All three of us burst out laughing.

Wish I could sleep
Wish I could rest.
