Good for Nothing
Lost beyond the radar I was. Bounded between the heavy darkness of the sea and the perpetual night sky, the witching hour that suffocated me.
I had been left stranded on that sinking vessel that sailed through the most violent of waves. Looking overboard did I see my loved ones, failing again and again to reach the surface, while I stood and watched, helpless. Their fading screams, "Save me!" never died, which made me wonder if this was all a dream, no. A harrowing nightmare.
Or perhaps this is what I deserved. Perhaps I was facing the consequences of building what I thought to be a paradise, in order to secure a haven of solace from the loneliness that barren world had taught me to fear.
Over the years, it had knotted to form a ship that had sailed for countless moons. All was well. But shortly after did the lands slowly begin to disappear from the horizon, the wooden boards charred to coal that disintegrated at the softest touch, the skies had faded into the purist black that persuaded even the most pristine stars to surrender to it.
