•Forfeit•
The craving for acknowledgement largely supersedes
the more ambitious, reasonable, agreeable need
for approval. Dignity slowly fades away
in attempts to woo and sway
the attentions of a beloved
who refuses to be loved
much less be a lover;
Until she discovers
that surrender of the self is incomplete
if her extreme love is replete
with thirst; with craving.
No, love is not depraving-
it seeks sacrifice of possession,
of the very seed of love- obsession.
This sacrifice of love, for love
has no reward of love.
It only offers liberation
the final celebration-
of the beloved and unloved.
