The sunlight is seeping in through the thick red curtains.
Is this what home looks like?
Chaos, angry shouts, broken bricks and broken promises?
Cigarette smoke, half finished whisky glasses, olives and dust?

The first time
I read of heaven,
I imagined a land
where I would finally
be at peace,
where I could tug at
the silver linings of clouds
and fly them like kites.

so i write

how we could
sit on rooftops
at midnight
and start a religion
if we don't find
something to trust
in the sky

how if it ever
stopped raining
we could still uncover
secrets in the mist

"Is this what home looks like?"

I was taught
how to draw
a home,
perfectly straight lines
for walls,
that was a struggle
for my shaking hands,
a spacious square
for rooms,
the bigger the voidness
the more it is grand,
small four squares
as locked windows,
a triangle
for rooftop,
that doesn't allow
to lay while stargazing
under the sky,
and a rectangle
for that ever-closed door
is this what home
looks like?

Is This What Home Looks Like

Is this what home looks like, the colour
of happiness in mother's delight.

"From homeless to home"

"Is this what home looks like",
Whispered the child.
He was astonished at first,
His pupils got widened,
Capturing all the things, which he never saw before,
Lots of questions, were running into his tiny mind.
Wandering here and there,
Searching every room and corner of the house,
A sweet smile, now always covered his face
The love for which he was seeking,
Finally got him to this place,
And now here he has two persons ,
Who cares for him,
Worry for him,
But after this all,
His origin is still not defined,
Some say his parents died before he was born ,
And some say his parents left him,
Although he spent 10 years in the orphanage,
But now he has a new origin,
New parents,
New beginnng,
And from now , he is no more an orphan.

Is this is what home looks like?
Like an umbrella
Protecting us from getting drenched
In the rain of pain.
Like a shoe
That acts as a wall
Between our comfort and woe.
Like a soothing music
That plays on an endless loop
Embracing our grief and helping us dupe.
Is this is what home looks like?
Like an ethereal glow in the dark
Like a fawn revelling in the stark
Like a voice that tickles my soul
Like a silence that breathes peacefully
And breaks apart the wall,
I built,
Between me and him!
