She was buried in her mother's womb,
Gender was the barrier..
He was sent abroad for his studies,
She was married at the tender age of 20,
Gender was the barrier..
He was asked to have ideas to change the world,
She was ordered to make proper chapatis,
Gender was the barrier..
He was paid 1.5 mn $ for film reshoots,
She was given a meagre 100 bucks,
Gender was the barrier!!

The chasm, of disparity,
Yawns largely, in front of us.
Yet, I still pine for a bridge
That will nullify this gap, we have.
Mayhap, you couldn't hear me;
But, bear in mind that I'll always care--
No matter the distance,
Irrespective of conventional time.

When I demand equality, I am reminded that -
The term equality is itself an abstract word in this so called modernised era ,
Where religion still comes
in the way of love .
Where privileges are provided
due to reservations on the basis of caste .
Where we as females are still considered
unequal and inferior to our male counterparts ,
despite our sheer potential,
Where the so called elite class
Still dominates the so called
Lower strata of the society !

Yes we are indeed equal
In this era of discrimination!

A birth denounced,
A cry unheard.
Tears left to dry.
Her cry was noise but his was pain.
Right from the cradle,
Where his cradle were swung by hands.
And her cradle by the wind.

Leftover crumbs or a whole plate?
Bunch of trash or a tummy full?
Depends upon the amount of currency they can pull...
Where servings get smaller and etiquette at best,
Neither of those put hunger to rest.
Does the lament of a staring eye, at the window sill, upset their stomach?
Who's to judge which of ‘em got bitten by bad luck!

A little hand of sympathy may become whole world for someone.

If small babies could be loved
Irrespective of their colour, size and shape...
Then why this world is after discrimination!!!
