When we are desperate, we make choices that are mean and selfish. And we generally enter a state of desperation when we are doing something not out of choice but are doing it to prove something to someone, or we are just following the crowd and doing something just to get approval and validation by others. In order to become free of this desperate state, we need to be with ourselves for some moments, ask ourselves what it is that we really want, and let go of the things that we really don't want.
