let's go out on a date
not a dinner one, but lunch
not in our finest clothes, but pyjamas
and let's not eat with forks and knives
but with our hands
and i know how much you like to gobble
the food that you order, and
i know it is just for you
for you kick me under the table
whenever i try to take a bite.

and present a flower or
a chocolate or
something dear to you
to us, for that afternoon
i shall celebrate you
i shall celebrate us.
with laughter
and looking at you eat
the food you ordered
and the food i did
because we both know
your food is yours
and my food is yours too.

let's order dessert
your favorite cheesecake.
we see people judging us
But girl, do we care?
our laughter is enough
for us to silence their stares.
you eat your cheesecake
and there's something left
on your lips
i instruct you where it is
but you being the clumsy self
do not get a hold of it
only for me to clean it
while we share a touch
of my fingers on your lips
and my eyes look into yours.

and then walk home
hand in hand
while i wonder
how i became so lucky
that you became mine
