ज़मीन के जिस टुकड़े के पीछे
कत्ल-ए-आम हो गया,
दिन-ओ-सालों के जाते जाते,
वो टुकड़ा, जाने कितनों के नाम हो गया!

मरने के बाद का भी हो जाये इंतज़ाम,
बनाता रहा जुगाड़ ताउम्र,
देख, उन ज़मीनों की ख़ातिर,
तेरे लोगों का क्या अंजाम हो गया!

किसकी रही ज़मीन कभी?
कल इसकी थी, कल उसकी होगी,
काग़ज़ पे एक दस्तख़त से समझा,
ख़ाक का हिस्सा गोया तेरे नाम हो गया?

नहीं कोई तेरी ज़मी इस दुनिया-ए-फा़नी में,
यहीं छोड़ कर कागज़ सारे चला जाएगा पशेमानी में!
किए कुछ दस्तख़त ख़ुदा के पन्नों पे भी हैं तूने?
क्या तेरा उसके घर पे रहने का इंतज़ाम हो गया?
