Lucid memory floats by
Like vapours from some shallow spring
On a hot summer's day
Like the ones on which I've lain in wait
Toeing nettles in my way.

Pricky thoughts of neglect fill my head
But a fierce love shines through
Your trespasses sprout wings- fly away
Each doubt is swallowed whole

I spy you from afar
A chatoyance in my view
I'm blinded as I trot forth
Your smile lights up my soul
An outstretched arm I move to hold

Yet what snaps me back
Is but the ache in my bones
I'm held hostage but for now
Lying ensnared is just reminiscence

The music here doth end
And soon I shall sway
like a yellowed leaf by time betrayed
In an old woman's chattels they'll find
The riches of the some lonely senile.

Amongst them a note you left
Sorry remains of a ruthless grief
Of deafening summons you'd paid heed
On that damning precipice.

As you over the brooding brink stood
Maybe once my way you'd looked
Didn't you then not know
That tis' shall be the only way
To will my blissful life away?
