I have a closet full of once-worn gowns
And a locker full of single-pair shoes.
An unlikely optimist, I leave my calling cards--
Sometimes a left shoe, sometimes a right--
At parties, I turn up at work
In mismatched sandals, but hey,
They say, all's fair in love and war.
But the price of battle is two pence
Too much and now I'm out of space, money and patience.

I know I need to Marie Kondo that shit
For there is neither spark nor joy here anymore.
I know, I know all this and more.
I swore to let go and accept that
Amphibians cannot morph into suitable boys.
But first, can I please have a moment of silence
For the dear-departed charms of long-lost princes?
Can I please give them a hug and a little kiss
Before I throw the frogs out?-
Being a little girl I remember,
All I wanted was to live the life of a Disney princess.
The fantasy, The glitter, ,
The happily ever afters and The shimmer.
But I didn't know back then that ;
To be Cindrella, I'd have to walk on broken glass.
To be sleeping beauty, I will have to wait for a lifetime to pass.
To be Belle, I'd need to look deeper in a hideous beast.
To be Jasmine, I'd need to fall for a poor man.
To be Ariel, I'd have to leave my home and spend my life on sand.
Now that I know the consequences of being a Disney princess,
I wonder if I should forget my childhood dream,
But I realize that I was always a princess.
I realize "it was never about the smiles and tears,
It will always be about chasing my deepest fears."
Yes, I am a big girl now,
And I still want to be a Disney Princess.-
Not all girls
are Cinderella material.
Some of us
ditch the glass slippers for flip flops
and dance
as if there's no midnight.-

That only Cinderella could fit in-
I saw a palace..
He was there..
Waiting for his beautiful Cinderella..
With no shoe!

I found my prince.
