Lighter than the shade of satin, was that sunset;
its crimson sky, brighter than the sourness of olives;
flaming red streaks,
like the greying fragrance of an evening coffee,
as I enjoyed the moment,
slyly slipping into the familiarity of a day's end,
for, Black was a friend then, when light was a choice,
unlike then, now, today, tonight and tomorrow,
when familiarity turns a foe,
and darkness, its compassion.
