It was Diwali night. Returning home on the rickshaw from my friends' house, after feasting on mouth-savouring sweets & a bloaded stomach, I noticed the 'kalava' on the old rickshaw-wala's hand.

"Bhaiyya, Diwali mubarak! Did you have some sweets?" The pale look on the poor man's face told it all.

Stopping the rickshaw on the side of the road, seeing the man having his first meal on the day of festivity, with tears rolling down his cheeks, was the most gratifying moment of the year 2016 for me.

इतनी आसान कहाँ है चाहत तुम्हारी ...

दर्द जब पराकाष्ठा के पार हो.. और बहुत खोजने पर भी जब नींद न मिले.. आंसुओ से भी मन न बहले और सांस लेना दूभर हो जाये ऐसी कई रातों से बनती है चाहत तुम्हारी

जहाँ शब्द अर्थ बदलने लगे बातों के.. ख़ामोशी भी न सही जाये, कहने हो भेद कई मन के और हो न पास कोई, घुटन जब शून्य के पार हो ऐसे कई शामों से बनती है चाहत तुम्हारी

जब परिस्थितियां विपरीत हो जायें और साथ देने को कोई ना हो जब आंसू भी साथ छोड़ जायें जीना व्यर्थ लगने लगे
ऐसे कई लम्हों से बनती है चाहत तुम्हारी
इतनी आसान कहाँ चाहत तुम्हारी
