He looked like the pain I felt
The day my sister pulled my tooth out,
A fist triumphant in the sky my
Mouth suddenly hollower than usual
I keep my eyes glued, I couldn't
Possibly look at you.
Sit on this field of lavender and
Braid my hair, leave traces of your
Breath on the edges; the edge of the
World, the edge of the railing,
An ocean unfurls it's arms,
I shoot heavenwards and cling
To gravity.
Oh why do you kiss my skin
If you don't intend to stay.

A star explodes in poetic silence, scattering
Souls across galaxies, it braces itself,
A sin disguised as a distress signal, flaring
Across skies that were once blue.

Is this flame worth the oceans I spill,
The houses I build on unmarked cities,
The line between freedom and fright
Blurs itself.

I hear the rush of gold on my fingertips,
Rivers crashing on the banks of yesterday,
Somewhere a dam has let loose a stranger
In the seas and in the stillness I drown
Myself.

Sunlight is around the corner, I'm driving
On a highway with unlit exit signs.

Remember that feeling?
The music grows in your ears, as the
Airplane cuts through space, I'm suspended
Mid air and I land into
Oceans.

I always knew I'd drown.

Virginia beckons, she's jaded, a faded blue
Clings to her, she's a prisoner of her
Own device and a devil by her
Own design.

I always knew I'd drown.

Look at this small town playground,
Desolate and haunted by lost laughter,
All the blue fades into an eerie sensation
Of nothingness.

I built a city on this ultramarine euphoria,
This land called home is tainted with a
Shade of maroon I stole from the portrait
You're frozen in.

How lonely these stars must be, aligning
Lost divinity, searching for paradise, following
The sound of your footsteps into the
Mausoleums you built.

But the lost lighthouse sometimes imitates
A shooting star, I'm leaving again, awaiting
Destruction.

In ocean soaked moonlight, sometimes
He appears on my porch, holding a candle
To the wind, whispering sweet nothings;
I see through you.

Where's Joy? Where are the embers you had
Embedded on my skin?

You look like I've seen a ghost, I wonder
If you remember my name, your voice
Arched on my tongue, I build a city on my
Lungs only to lose it to a
Wildfire.

Stay the night,
Remind me how to fall into oceans
Again.

I'm made of rocks and water, the withered
Cherry blossom at the end of the lane,
Once blooming against a lilac sky is now
A memory, a fleeting apparition.

There are bombs in the distance, they sound
Like those stories you'd tell me, a distant
Siren sings distress signals, signalling death
Or dying, either ways I couldn't bury her so
A blue urn sits and sings in the
Living room.

Emma,
I've buried the dead magnolias
In the backyard, they seemed content enough
For me to do so, they've withered but still
Smell of the night you held me by the
Bones, and whispered
"When you die, where does the love go?"
I know now, it's how dead flowers can still
Remind you of spring, under skies that
Look like dessicated cotton candy, the
Earth would hold it's breath, and universes
Would shift in silence and you'd finally be
Found.
Here's the house I built, the paint has worn
Off but I don't think you'd mind, it's aged with
Me, we're now the same shade of mellow
Blue.
You'd be 84 today and we wouldn't
Have aged a day.
I buried the dead magnolias, they smell a lot
Like you.

The moon is a picturesque fairly tale, it's a
Potpourri scented lilac laced song that
Sometimes whispers tales about
How it's lived a thousand wars eagerly
Waiting to be split open.
I'm a rebellion away from exploding into
A thousand poems I've written about you,
It's worth it to love something that doesn't
Seem to move.
The earth shifts tonight as you collide against
The universe, scattering into twilight zones,
Humming war hymns through the sky.
This love tastes sweet, like frozen cherries
Melting on my tongue, you're a bloodbath
Of a muse, a polaroid dream, always on the
Flipside.

These waves crash silently, humming into the night
Lost in concentric constellations, dancing to
Delirium, oceans breaking open like oak wood,
Divinity seeping out, words hanging on to smoke clad
Breaths, if I explode in your hands promise you'll paint
Maps.

These haunted midnights hold their breath, awaiting
Disaster, blind faith fumbling to pray, you're a
Wildfire whispering to rains, I'm swallowing sins as God
Heaves war hymns, twilight balances itself at the tip of
Your tongue, wrapped in an enigma, my fingers craving
Mercy.

Hush, sirens crash into the night as your nails cling
On to broken dreams, a galactic jigsaw puzzle, if this
Universe ceases to exist, I promise I'll never stop
Dreaming.

Your empty eyes look like broken sunrises,
I'm losing myself between your fingers,
My sense of touch lost on the lines on your
Palms.
I catapult between forged and forgotten,
Hands on your skin, searching for an exit, this
Dream, derailed, falling apart against lonely
Skies.
Moonlight shatters on my skin, I'm bleeding silver
And your touch is gold, there's space between us
But I'm drowning in stars tonight, as my eyes turn into
Ashes.
My bones hum war hymns, you're a midnight
Stuck between universes, drunk on twilight, endlessly
Exploding, blurring the lines between sirens and
Sanity.
