मैं एक बँटा हुआ शख़्स हूँ ये ऐलान करता हूँ,
दिन अपनी मशरूफ़ियों के, रात तुम्हारे नाम करता हूँ।

लोग मुझसे पूछते हैं कि शेर क्यों नहीं कहता मैं,
किसे पता कि मैं तिरे ख़्वाबों का इंतज़ार करता हूँ।

तेरा ख़्वाब जब भी आता है, मुझे ग़ज़लों का तोहफ़ा दे जाता,
मुझमें मेरा कुछ नहीं, सब तेरा है, चल ये इक़रार करता हूँ।

ना कोई इज़हार-ए-इश्क़ था, ना कोई अहद-ए-वफ़ा,
ग़ज़ल जो मुकम्मल हो जाए तो वो भी तेरी,
ना हो तो तुझपे ही इल्ज़ाम करता हूँ।
