If I could, I would fall in love again,
I would dance gleefully in the rain,
Imagining all sorts of blissful moments with my love,
I would fill all the emptiness I will ever have.

If I could, I would fall in love again,
I would revel in the accompanying pain,
I would go through it all, with you by my side,
Till death do us part, I will keep reading your mind.

If I could, I would fall in love again,
And hope to live those moments all over again,
To feel the combination of tears and laughter,
To not know what happens after...

If I could, I would do all this and beyond,
But the tragedy of this poem lies in the very first word.
The vacillating "If" is all that stays,
Of a chapter that suddenly went astray.
