I recall our arguments over my-kind-of-right and your-kind-of-wrong.
We both had our perceptions
ranging across spectrums that drew their own parallel world;
leaving us entangled in the same world.
I recall how our routines never saw each other's face.
We both had our own habits
spanning across day and night, coffee and chai, books and camera
leaving us alive in the same home.
I recall how the ashes from your cigarettes
lay comfortably next to my empty wine glasses
Like the sand lays next to the ocean,
they too wash us, off our feet
I recall and recall
over and over
your tattooed skin against my pale one
my layered hair over your bare chest
your camera clicks against my fluttering book-pages.
Differences, they say,
make and break the toughest souls apart.
I wonder what resonates, to keep us together!
